The Rural Foundation Limited
Our purpose is to strengthen rural communities by supporting young people to be leaders. Our vision is that Victoria rural and regional communities will be thriving with strong input from skilled, resilient and motivated young people. Youthrive Victoria provides support, development, mentoring and services to assist young rural people to receive postschool education, particularly those disadvantaged by distance, personal circumstances or economic hardship. In the 2021/2022 financial year, Youthrive Victoria continued to provide the following programs: 1a. University Scholarships: Equity and Merit scholarships supporting young rural people to attend university (7 awarded in 2022) 1b. Rural Chances Vocational Scholarships: (13 awarded in 2022) 2. Young Rural Leaders Program: This sixday residential program for aspiring young rural leaders was conducted twice this year. Numbers were affected by Covid. July 2021 had 17 participants and January 2022 had 18 participants. Programs were facilitated by 18 alumni coaches. 3. Mentoring: The Mentoring program supports rural students in their transition to university or TAFE and into their careers. There were 12 mentoring pairs and 37 mentoring groups participants in 2022. The Branch out mentoring program was offered in 10 schools in 2022 and reached 715 students. 4. The Rural Youth Network continued to grow. It provides a network to create success for schoolleavers, using the best aspects of online technology with the best of inperson communications. Participants in the network help one another and use online resources and activities sodesigned and run by peers. Young rural Victorians use the network to find career connections, volunteering opportunities and shared interests with other young people. The RYN is a new type of community for those who are transitioning from regional schools into postschool education and training, and into work. Rural Businesses and organisations can provide opportunities via the ryn.org.au website. 5. Dream Seeds Workshops an initiative ot the Alumni members which builds aspiration, resilience and connections for Year 6 students. Covid continued to have an impact on the delivery of the Dream seeds program in the 2021/2022 financial year. Workshops were conducted at 14 schools with a total of 343 students participating. The program was run by 20 volunteer alumni presenters. The Alumni group also operated as a social and volunteer organisation. They conducted leadership development workshops and provided the strong volunteer base of Youthrive Victoria.
