Limbs 4 Life empowers amputees with knowledge and support because no one should have to go through limbs loss alone. Limbs 4 Life provides access to a national formally managed Peer Support program for individuals and their family s prior to or immediately post amputation. We also support families of children who are born with limb deficiencies. Support is provided through our early intervention Peer Support Volunteer Program. Peer support provides new amputees with the opportunity to meet with a trained amputee peer who has experienced the very personal journey of adapting to living with limb loss, regaining independence, mobility and functionality. Peer support serves to deliver on our vision that no one in Australia goes through the life changing challenges of limb loss alone. As part of this program Limbs 4 Life provides access to free resources and healthbased literacy to our stakeholders and the healthcare providers who support the social, physical and wellbeing outcomes of the members of our community. Limbs 4 Life works to prevent social isolation by building national community capacity and connections via online platforms, face to face educational events, our websites and community gatherings, along with our national conference Amped UP. We recognise that collaborating and partnering with amputees using a codesign approach helps to qualityassure existing activities as well as initiate new ones. Such endeavours allow us to acquire knowledge, conduct collaborative research and identify methods of effecting change to improve amputees psychosocialeconomic outcomes. Limbs 4 Life advocates on behalf of people with limb loss and their families to ensure that standards of care are met and that amputees have access to healthcare and community services in a timely, efficient and effective manner. In addition, we respond to a range of government submissions and inquires which have led to a range of significant systemic policy changes. As the national peak body for amputees we remain focused and steadfast in our resolve to empower, educate and support our community, and are demonstrative of our ongoing drive to create positive change.
