Goobidi offers a Community Care and Home Care suite of services to vulnerable and aged clients throughout the Douglas Shire and is also a registered NDIS provider. Services include providing three course subsidised meals on wheels service, to free transportation, centre based activities and lunches, social support and activities, client care, home modifications and home maintenance. We empowered clients to keep their independence by remaining in their own home through assistance with day to day essential needs and a fantastic social program of activities. Our programs were open to both first nations people and non indigenous people throughout our shire. Goobidi is now a registered and approved NDIS provider. We offered low cost housing to over 30 families and addressed a housing shortage in our region. Our quality playgroup program offered free support for mothers and children 05 and readied our children for school. The program focused on activities which empowered our children for their future. Our program also offered support for parents by developing positive parenting skills in a safe and nurturing environment. This service has a strong commitment to including cultural knowledge with school readiness, and our children and mothers took part in our annual Naidoc parade event. We also facilitated a subsidised Vacation Care program for approximately three weeks a year. This program offered primary school aged children a platter of activities ranging from home skills such as cooking, to art, swimming, movies, and excursions.
