Coolah District Development Group Incorporated
Established in 1995, the Coolah District Development Group (CDDG) is a voluntary managed, notforprofit body driven by over 150 volunteers. Subcommittees operate under the auspices of the CDDG: Community Gym, Bowen Oval (sport field’s management), Gallery/Visitor Info Centre, Historical and Arts project groups, community event group (biannual music festival), community progress groups (childcare investigative group and town cycle way/skate park/railtrails) they all offer the entire community diverse opportunities in health, sport, arts and culture, community services and fundraising. Through the volunteer body of the CDDG, the Community Development Officer, a position funded by council, is utilised by these groups for assistance and support. The CDDG facilitates: communication with council and local organisations, multiuser groups uniting to develop plans for community infrastructure, lobby of local government on behalf of community, regular social gatherings for new displays in the gallery and helps new organisations establish, such as the Coolah Recreation Grounds User’s Group. The CDDG aids many volunteer community groups in mentoring, governance support, sourcing funding for their projects and events, auditing and bookkeeping, while striving to build a sense of community. The CDDG mission is to foster a safe, healthy, cultural and heritage environment for the Coolah community; to preserve our town s services and character; and to continue to encourage growth and development of the district with productive and sustainable industries.
