WINZERO INCORPORATED
Also known as:
CANWin, Wingecarribee Net Zero Emissions
This last year has been a very busy and productive one for WinZero. There were several major projects that required a great deal of time and effort.. The Biodiversity workshop bught together 15 participants who work in the field of protection of biodiversity on private land in NSW. One of the greatest threats to biodiversity in the Southern Highlands is the continued clearing of native habitat on private land. To address this, when considering DAs and strategic planning issues, the planners need mapping of native vegetation and biodiversity corridors. Unfortunately, Council s environment section has not yet completed the mapping of the biodiversity corridors (the Green Web ) which are central to protecting biodiversity through strengthening the connectivity of habitats. Earth Hour We collaborated with the Steiner School art students to enter an awardwinning sculpture about threatened species of birds in the Southern Highlands. The WinZero information stand displayed and gave out information on how to reduce carbon emissions, as well as information on the Southern Highlands Landcare Network. A display of electric vehicles and electric bikes organised by WinZero was very popular. WSC Greener Footprint Fair This event was organised by Council and they allowed WinZero to have a stand and to conduct have a large book sale, which occupied an entire room, along with an outdoor stand at the front of the building. The book sales generated over $1100 for wildlife carers. WinZero is working with Moss Vale High and our local Council to facilitate the installation of 100kw of solar panels on the school roof. The school, with the sponsorship of WinZero, received a grant of $22,750 from the Purryburry Trust towards the installation costs of the solar panels at Moss Vale High. WinZero is now working with Berrima Primary School on a similar project. WinZero has supported and promoted each of the Sustainable Us Projects and videos. We have provided to the Program a video on Advocacy developed by the WWF
